The SBTC provides business consulting services to local and regional private businesses, economic development organizations, non-profit institutions and local governments.
The SBTC assists the overall economic development of Southside Virginia, by providing tangible business consulting services for existing and newly established businesses in the areas of business plan development, feasibility studies, sources of capital, market research and analysis, financial analysis, operational analysis and mergers and acquisitions. Through its activities the SBTC assists in job creation and retention, increased capital investments, increased sales, creation of a greater more diversified tax base and business management education and training based on actual industry demand.
The SBTC provides its consulting services by its highly professional international staff, outside expert consultants and with the utilization of MBA students. The center charges for its consulting services; however, these fees are heavily subsidized. The SBTC also offers lectures and training seminars related to specific business topics. The SBTC also provides experiential learning through internship opportunities to local and regional university and college students majoring in business, marketing and related fields of study.
The Southside Business Technology Center (SBTC) was created in 2005 and is currently operating in two offices in Martinsville and Danville, Virginia.
